How to request a parking ban for a house clearance in Antwerpen

For a house clearance in Antwerpen you request a temporary parking ban online from the city, at least 5 working days before the clearance. The city places the no-parking signs itself, two days ahead, and records which cars are already parked. A standard request costs at least €65. Below is what to request, when, and what changes in the centre and the Diamond district.

Do you need a parking ban for a house clearance in Antwerpen?

Yes, in almost every Antwerpen street. The truck has to stand directly in front of the door for several hours, and a loading permit alone does not allow parking. Without a free space, the crew carries everything along the pavement, which costs time and is not always possible.

The exception is a house with its own driveway or a courtyard where the truck can stand off the street. For the clearance itself, see house clearance cost in Antwerpen.

Who requests the parking ban: you or the clearance company?

You request the parking ban, as the resident or owner of the address. We give you what the form needs: the date or dates, the start and end time, and the length of the space. For a clearance with one box truck, that is usually two parking spaces of 6 metres; with a ladder lift, sometimes three.

The city's fee is paid by you, separately from our fixed price.

How far in advance do you request it?

Request a standard parking ban at least 5 working days before the clearance; the day you request counts, the day of the ban does not. An urgent request is possible up to 2 working days ahead, but only before 9:00 and at a higher fee.

From 5 working days before the start, the request can no longer be changed. The city service is closed on public holidays and bridge days, so those days do not count.

What does a parking ban cost in Antwerpen?

A standard new request costs at least €65: a fixed fee of €33 plus €4 per parking space of 6 metres per day, with a minimum of €32 for the spaces. An urgent request costs at least €132, with a fixed fee of €100.

If you cancel by email at least 3 working days before the start, the variable part is refunded. A later cancellation is not refunded.

Who places the no-parking signs?

The city places the signs itself, two days before the parking ban starts, and notes the number plates of the cars that are already parked there. You may not place signs yourself.

If a car still stands in the space on the day of the clearance, the city's records show whether it was parked there before the signs went up.

What changes in the centre, pedestrian zones and the Diamond district?

In a pedestrian zone or a low-traffic zone in the centre, the truck also needs access permission, requested from the city in advance with the number plate of the vehicle. We give you that plate when the date is fixed.

In the Diamond district (Hovenierstraat, Schupstraat, Rijfstraat), works and removals have their own procedure, with permission from the police first. Allow extra time there.

What if a ladder lift has to stand on the pavement?

A ladder lift usually stands on the road within the parking ban, next to the truck. If it has to stand on the pavement or a cycle path, the city requires a separate occupation request, and the urgent procedure is then not possible. Tell us the situation with your photos and we tell you which request to make. Ladder lifts are part of an apartment clearance in most older buildings.

Frequently asked questions

Can I request the parking ban by phone?

Requests go online. For questions, the city's temporary traffic signs service can be reached on weekdays in the morning; the contact details are on the official page linked below.

What if I live just outside Antwerpen, for example in Mortsel or Schoten?

Then you request the parking ban from that municipality, which has its own form, lead time and fee.

Can the clearance company request it for me?

The request is linked to your city account and address, so in practice you make it. We give you every detail for the form.
